This Privacy Policy explains what information Getcostidea (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit getcostidea.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information you give us

Contact form and email. If you contact us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write in your message. We use it only to reply to you.
Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by Akismet, an automated spam-filtering service.

2. Information collected automatically

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are viewed, for how long, from what type of device and from which general location. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Engagement and link analytics. We measure page engagement and clicks on outbound product links with our own analytics and with a visitor analytics service (VisitorTracking.com). This can record a hashed (non-reversible) version of your IP address, your time zone, the page that referred you and your device type.
Server and security logs. Our hosting provider (Hostinger), its content delivery network and our security software record technical data such as IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested. We use this to keep the Site fast and secure and to block abusive or automated traffic. Security logs are kept for about 60 days.

3. Cookies

We and the services above use cookies and similar technologies, for example to recognise returning visitors, to measure traffic and, if you choose, to remember your details for the next comment. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site will still work, although some features may not.

4. Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon. When you click one, you leave our Site and the retailer may set its own cookies to record that the visit came from us. Retailers do not share your name, payment details or order details with us. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

5. How we use information

to run, maintain and improve the Site and its guides;
to answer your messages;
to understand which guides are useful and which products readers are interested in;
to protect the Site against spam, fraud and attacks.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Sharing

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Site (hosting, analytics, spam and security services), when the law requires it, or when needed to protect our rights and the safety of our visitors.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Contact messages are kept until the conversation is finished, and approved comments stay on the Site until they are removed.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. To make a request, email admin@getcostidea.com.

9. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

10. Other websites

Our guides link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
